Benchmark indices near day's high on global cues@FUTURE TIPS
Domestic benchmark indices were trading near their intraday highs in the afternoon trade following the positive trend in global equities and as the traders covered short positions.
India VIX falls 9% on gains in local, global equities.
Shares of metal stocks rose the most as the markets in China reopened after Lunar New Year holidays and because of the strength in base metal prices. Nifty Metal was up 2.5% at 4003 points.
The Nifty 50 was at 10,479 points, up 96 points, while Sensex was at 34,105 points, up 286 points.
Shares of Fortis Healthcare up 5% after a media report said Malaysia-based IHH Healthcare Bhd has re-entered the race to buy the former.
Adani Transmission was trading higher on letter of intent from PFC arm.
