With an eye on market share, Volvo Eicher launches two new trucks, announces new capex

Volvo Eicher Commercial Vehicles (VECV), owned by Eicher Motors Limited (EML), which also owns the iconic Royal Enfield (RE) motorcycle franchise, launched two new truck models yesterday. It expanded its Pro 6000 series range with the launch of Eicher Pro 6049 and Eicher Pro 6041 in the 49T and 41T categories respectively.

While the Pro 6049 is a tractor-trailer, targeted at mass market applications, Eicher Pro 6041 is India’s first 41T rigid haulage truck. With the launch, EML expects its LMD truck sales to go up from 1,000 units per month currently to 1,500 units per month.

The company also plans to set up a new greenfield plant for its trucks and bus business. The company will seek board approval for setting up the new plant, whose location is yet to be ascertained. As reported by Business Standard, the plant will have an annual capacity of 50,000 vehicles.

Eicher Motors Ltd ended at Rs28,290 down by Rs81.3 or 0.29% from its previous closing of Rs28,371.30 on the BSE. The scrip opened at Rs28,290 and touched a high and low of Rs28,290 and Rs28,290 respectively. A total of 52 (NSE+BSE) shares were traded on the counter. The current market cap of the company is Rs77,358.04cr.
