Indian markets closed today on account of Eid-ul-Fitr
Domestic stock exchanges BSE and NSE, forex market and commodity bourses
are closed on Monday on account of Ramzan Id or Eid-ul-Fitr. The
festival marks the culmination of fasting and the holy month of Ramzan.
However, the commodity markets will be closed in the morning session and resume trade in the evening trade.
On the international front, Singapore markets are also shut for the day for Hari Raya Puasa.
The stock market on Tuesday witnessed a profit booking as all the major indices closed in the red ahead of Reserve Bank of India’s policy decision Thursday.
Nifty underperformed the Bank Nifty and Mid-cap index as long unwinding was seen in stocks like HUL, ICICI Bank & Infosys, closing ~1% each.
The Sensex ended at 40,084, down 184 points while the broader Nifty50 index settled at 40,083, down 51 points.
The broader market indices BSE Midcap & Smallcap outperformed the benchmark and closed lower by 0.2% each. Among sectoral front, Nifty IT index ended its five-day winning streak, closing ~1.5% lower.
