Nifty IT index gains 1% led by HCL Tech, Infosys

The Nifty IT index gained in the afternoon session on Wednesday’s trade on the NSE. The index rose 154 points at 14,843.55 levels.

Buying was seen in Just Dial, HCL Tech, Infosys and Tech Mahindra kept IT index up.

Shares of IT major Infosys rose more 2%, a day after a plunge in the stock amid whistleblower complaints that its top two executives engaged in unethical practices wiped out nearly Rs53,000cr of investor wealth.

On Monday, Infosys American Depositary stock fell 3% to end at $9.01 - after registering their worst fall since 2013 in Monday's session. The stock fell after the company said it had received complaints from anonymous whistleblowers alleging certain unethical practices.

Shares of HCL Tech climbed 2.5% ahead of Q2FY20 numbers.

All the Nifty IT constituents were trading in the green, except Mindtree, which is slightly down in today’s trade.

Meanwhile, the Sensex was up 163 points at 39,127 and the Nifty50 index was up 46 points at 11,635.
