Nifty Metal index gains 1% led by Hindustan Copper, Jindal Steel

The Nifty Metal index gained 1% in an otherwise weak market on Thursday’s trade amid easing worries about US-China trade tensions and on hopes of a global economic pickup next year.

The index is up 1% at 2,752.50 levels as buying was seen in Hindustan Copper, SAIL, Jindal Steel, Vedanta and NALCO.

Shares of Hindustan Copper surged 4%, followed by SAIL, Jindal Steel and Vedanta were up 3% each. NALCO, NMDC, JSW Steel and Tata Steel are also up 2% on the metal index.

MOIL, Hindustan Zinc and APL Apollo are also up in today’s trade, while Coal India and Welspun Corp are down by 1% each.

Shares of Rane Madras and Rane Brakes jumped over 13% while Infibeam Avenue, Rane Holdings and Sterling Tools are the other gainers.

The most active stocks are Reliance Industries, Indiabulls Housing Finance, Tata Steel, BPCL and Yes Bank.

Meanwhile, the Sensex slipped 98 points at 41,363 and the Nifty is down 27 points at 12,187. About 989 shares have advanced, 715 shares declined, and 429 shares are unchanged.
