Opening Bell – Nifty, Sensex opens higher; TCS loses; Infy gains
The
BSE Sensex opened higher by 62 points at 32099, while the Nifty50 opened higher
by 21.6 points at 9913.3 mark.
Infosys was top Sensex gainer trading at Rs
1003.1 per share, up by 2.75% whereas TCS was top Sensex loser trading at Rs
2388.4 per share, down by 2.28%. There were 637 advances, 314 declines and 40
unchanged stocks on BSE reflecting mixed sentiments floating in the market.
TCS and Infosys are in focus as they reported their Q1FY18
results. TCS was trading at Rs 2388.4 per share, down by 2.28% while Infosys
was trading at Rs 1003.1 per share, down by 2.75%. Nifty IT index was trading
at Rs per share, up by %.
Rupee opened almost flat at USD 64.44. Indian
rupee had closed at 3-week high at 64.45 level igniting hopes of a rate cut by
the central bank in its August policy.
The US stocks managed to close the Thursday’s
session modestly higher. The Dow Industrial Average reached another new record
closing high, rising 21 points to close at 21,554. The Nasdaq Composite Index
surged 13 points to 6,274 and the S&P 500 edged up 5 points to 2,448.
The Asian markets are trading lacklustre in
early trade on Friday. Japan’s Nikkei 225 is trading in positive terrain with
gains of 33 points, whereas Hong Kong's Hang Seng is trading lower by 22 points
and China’s Shanghai Composite has shed 8 points.
