Sensex, Nifty trade lower; Titan, Vedanta stocks lead
Equity benchmark indices opened in the negative territory amid weakness in Asian peers. Titan, Vedanta and JSW Steel are among the top gainers, while losers include BPCL, Indiabulls Housing Finance and UltraTech.
The Indian rupee opened lower by 23 paise at 71.82/$ on Tuesday versus previous close 71.59/$.
The Sensex fell 86 points to 37,038 and the NSE Nifty 50 is also down by 30 points at 10,974. India VIX gained ~2% at 15.23.
The market breadth was tilted in favour of buyers. About 922 shares advanced and 588 stocks declined and 563 stocks remained unchanged on NSE.
On the sectoral front, metal, banking, realty and auto were trading higher on the Nifty index.
